A couple of things on this fantastic SoCal day...
1. Baseball or Softballs?
For SOM #7 we are competing in a homerun derby. We need to make a decision on which balls we'd rather be knocking out of the yard. A brief pros/cons list:
Pros Softball.....easiest logistically to pull off; we have a field, balls and we don't need a screen or pitching machine. Cons Softball....less homeruns hit, harder to get a good pitch to hit
Pros Baseball....more homeruns, easier to pitch, harder to hit (which is technically a good thing when it comes to a man competition). Cons Baseball....we need to find a field, dangerous for the pitcher without a screen, pitching becomes a wild card because its easier to change the velocity of the pitch where pitching a softball is the same speed every pitch.
***I personally am leaning towards softball
2. Tennis Tourney set up
Jantz is figuring out different scenarios for a 6 man tourney. We may do a round robin, a double elimination or some variation of those two. If you have any ideas post them now so that we don't spend an hour on Wednesday figuring it out. It would be good if we had it nailed down come challenge day. Also I have two rackets (possibly 4) so if you know somebody who has a racket, now would be a good time to call them and procure a racket. I know Jonah plays so he may be an option. We also need to lock down a tourney site.
3. Will he or won't he?
Right now we're taking bets on whether Pete will be on time or not Wednesday morning. Right now Pete being late is +250, on time +125, and early -320. We're planning on doing the tennis tourney first with the homerun derby to follow.
